When you want to do something, but you’re not sure if it’s the right decision.
Consider:
- Ask yourself:
- What do you want to feel when you lay your head on your pillow tonight?
- What decision will make you feel that way?
- What will make you feel most proud at the end of the day?
- Notice any defensiveness to one choice or another. Notice any internal protest or excuses: “But it’s not bad! You’re too strict!”
Consider how interesting this is! Ask yourself:- Why are you so resistive?
- Why are you so attached to this thing?
- Why does it bother you so much for it to be taken away?
- For what purpose, really, did you want this in the first place?
- Use your reaction to help you make the best decision.
- If it’s not a “big” deal. If it’s “not bad,” as you say, then why the outrage? Why the strong reaction to denying yourself this small and simple thing?
- Remind yourself that what you least feel like doing in the moment is often what makes you happiest.
