Feeling “Off” and You Don’t Know Why

Some weeks go like this, feel like this—some procession of weeks do. It happens. Not every week will feel your best–and that’s OK.

Remember this is how people feel sometimes. This is a human experience. To feel “off” and you don’t know why. To feel less than your best, in body and mind. To feel distracted, tired, and a little worn down. To feel like your efforts yield less results than they would normally otherwise. All of this is normal.

Keep working.
Keep focusing.
Keep doing the work.

Remind Yourself:

  • Why you are doing this. Why you are in this endeavour in the first place. Whatever it is that you’re engaged in, whatever it is in the moment that you are struggling, consider: Why is this important? Why are you doing this? What do you have to gain?
  • This feeling—this momentary storm—is normal. Things feel like this sometimes. It’s hard, but it passes. Keep pressing on. Show up, anyway. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, the work you put in now will carry through. Come tomorrow or the next day—or the next week—you’ll start to see the results. You’ll be grateful to your present self for sticking it through. You’ll be grateful to your present self for pressing on.
