When you face that resistance, that mental block, that want-to-quit-and-give-up feeling of hopelessness. That no-good feeling of despair. When you feel this way, consider, this feeling is normal. And It’s a good sign.

This resistance, the struggle to press on, is a sign you’re going in the right direction. Doing the right thing.

  • Looking back, it’s not the flawless ease that you rekindle, but moments just like these. Moments where you feel down, discouraged—what am I doing this for?—and then it hits you: you remember why you’re doing this in the first place. Why it’s worth it. You resist the intoxicating lure of self-pity and doubt do it anyway. You overcome your mind. These are the moments that build strength and confidence and pride—the moments hidden from the rest of the world. The quiet conquering of your mind.

  • It won’t be perfect. It may never be perfect. And that doesn’t matter. Striving, pressing on, despite the resistance and struggle, is what enables you to grow stronger–to succeed.

  • Where you are now is exactly where you need to be to get where you want to go. You can’t skip this step. You can’t be where you ultimately want without passing through this present time. Use this present struggle as your reassurance: you’re on the right path. You’re going in the right direction.
