When you’re worried that you don’t have enough to get by or when you fear that you’ll run out of money, energy, or time, it’s scary. It’s unsettling. When you have real concerns and challenges before you, how do you manage the worries on your mind?

Consider:

  • Whatever worst case scenario you are picturing in your mind isn’t real. It never happened yet. It never happened at all. It’s like a made up story you’ve created in your mind. Picture this as your imagination run wild. This thing never happened. It doesn’t exist.

  • The only thing that’s real is what you are experiencing right this second. Everything confined to this moment, what you have before you, and what is in your present ability–is all that you need.
    • Present focus creates the future. And that’s what you have right now!
    • Focus on what you do have. What is working. What you can do–right now.

  • Make a plan.
    • What is one thing you can do right now to move yourself in your desired direction?
    • What is most important right now?
    • Acknowledge the challenge before you and plan for the unexpected. Remind yourself that you will be blind-struck from time to time, but you will get by. It won’t be easy, but you’ll figure it out along the way, just as you always have.

  • Each time worry enters your mind, refer back on your plan. Focus all your energy and attention to what you can do this moment. Keep doing this hour after hour, and tomorrow will take care of itself.
